In oral care, cleaning between teeth is as important as brushing teeth. After brushing our teeth, the interfaces of the teeth facing each other should also be cleaned with a correct technique. Generally, dental floss is recommended for this cleaning; however, sometimes dental floss may not be enough or the patient may experience a loss of motivation while using this technique. In such cases, the use of interdental brushes ( interface brush ) is necessary. It is very important to use , especially for patients with gum recession . In such cases, dental floss may not provide adequate cleaning.

Interface brushes have various sizes according to the amount of gingival recession. Choosing the right brand and the right size is very important. A size that will not cause compression or damage to neighboring teeth should be preferred.

Interface cleanliness is very important and should not be neglected. Interface maintenance should be done regularly to prevent the formation of dental caries and the possibility of developing gum disease . HYPERLINK “https://www.merkezdent.com/arayuz-fircasi-nasil-ve-ne-siklikla-kullanilmalidir/”

The most common uses of these brushes are;

Cleaning of spaces where food residues are common between teeth due to gingival recession

– Cleaning the underside of the veneer, which we call the body, which replaces the missing tooth, especially in fixed prostheses such as bridges, and the interface areas of the abutment teeth.

– Cleaning of the implants , especially the neck areas (where they join with the gums).

– Cleaning of brackets and parts that cannot be cleaned with a toothbrush of patients undergoing orthodontic treatment

How to Clean an Interface ?

It is ensured that it enters the interface with a slight force parallel to the ground , and the side surfaces are cleaned by leaning the brush against the neighboring teeth and moving back and forth 5-6 times.

There is no need to use toothpaste when applying interface brushes . Simply cleaning with water is sufficient.

– Hard movements should be avoided in order not to damage the gums .

– If there is difficulty in cleaning while applying in some areas, the brush should be used by bending it.

It is necessary to ensure that a suitable sized interface brush is selected.

– Interface brushes are not disposable; however, when deformations and bends occur, a new interface brush should be used.

– It is enough to do it once a day.
